Candra Darusman Hopes Copyright Problems Can Be Solved Through Mediation At The Official Agency
JAKARTA - Candra Darusman, a musician who is also the supervisor of the National Collective Management Institute (LMKN), regrets that there are cases of copyright infringement between musicians who must end up in court.
After the Ari Bias case with Agnez Mo, the cases of Keenan Nasution and Vidi Aldiano which are currently still being processed at the Central Jakarta Commercial Court are of public concern, especially the national music industry players.
According to Candra, copyright-related problems are better resolved through mediation, especially those who have litigants are people who have had good relations.
The Karimata Cup said that there are two agencies that can be used to mediate, namely the Arbitration Agency and Intellectual Property Rights Mediation (BAM HKI) and the Indonesian National Arbitration Agency (BANI).
"It would be nice if mediation with an official agency, namely BAM HKI or BANI," said Candra when met at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Central Jakarta, Friday, June 20.
"Indeed, doing mediation can call friends, but it's not official, it's better to take the official one. I'm sure the problem can be solved," continued Candra.

Candra also admitted that she had spoken to Keenan Nasution and Vidi Aldiano's father, Harry Kiss, where the two have been good friends for a long time.
"Yes, I had time (to talk to Harry Kiss), I spoke with Keenan too. I don't side with anyone, but at least we meet in formal mediation," he said.
In addition, Candra also talked about the statement by the Director-General from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI), which talked about licensing (licenses) and royalties for performing rights.
Two days ago, DJKI from the Ministry of Law issued a fatwa, namely that for concerts, the applicable provisions must be obeyed, namely as long as the promoters or EO pays and takes care of licenses from a performance, then the song permit is automatically given. So, no more need to ask permission (directly to the songwriter)," said Candra.
"If the promoter takes care of the license, pays royalties to LMKN, then the singer or musician no longer needs to ask for permission. And this applies internationally," he concluded.
