Mount Dukono Sprays Volcanic Ash As High As 1,400 Meters
JAKARTA - Mount Dukono in North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku, erupted again by ejecting volcanic ash as high as 1,400 meters above the peak.
"This morning Mount Dubono erupted with a column height of ash being observed as high as 1,400 meters," said PGA Dukono officer Bambang Sugiono as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 20.
The eruption of Mount Dukono by ejecting a column of ash that was observed to be white to gray with thick intensity leaning towards the east.
The eruption of the volcano as high as 1,087 meters above sea level (masl) was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 34 mm and a duration of 63.92 seconds.
"Currently, the condition of Mount Dukono is still at Level II or Alert," he said.
People around Mount Dukono and visitors and tourists are advised not to climb and approach the Maupang Warirang Crater within a radius of 4 kilometers.
"Considering that eruptions with volcanic ash periodically occur and the distribution of ash follows the direction and speed of the wind, so that the runway area is not fixed," said Bambang.
