Supporting The Electricity Export Program To Singapore, Pertamina NRE Wants To Build A Solar Panel Factory With China

JAKARTA - Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) expressed its support for the green electricity export plan to Singapore.

Pertamina NRE's Director of Strategic Planning & Business Development, Fadli Rahman, said that this support was provided through the plan to build a solar panel manufacturing plant which will be carried out in the near future.

"In the near future, we will have a groundbreaking for cooperation with one of the tier 1 solar manufacturing companies, and this will be our main point for supporting electricity exports to Singapore," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, June 19.

The factory construction project will cooperate with companies from the Bamboo Curtain country, China. However, he did not further state the company's name and the amount of investment disbursed by these two energy companies.

Fadli ensured that while building an electric factory, Pertamina NRE will also continue to explore and develop potential companies in the development and producer of green electricity to be exported.

"We are explored the potential for us to move there as developers. But at least we start from manufacturing first," he added.

Furthermore, the CEO of Pertamina NRE, John Anis, said that his party is also targeting the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) development plan or electric transmission throughout ASEAN. Later, he said, the development of APG will be similar to the development that has already been carried out by European countries.

"The ASEAN Power Grid has an idea like in Europe, all countries will be interacted, later there will be no restrictions on electricity," explained John.

Previously, the Governments of Indonesia and Singapore signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) related to the development of environmentally friendly energy, one of which was Interconnection and Cross-Border Electricity Trading.

This net electricity export collaboration is known to have investment potential of up to 50 billion US dollars in solar panel and 2.7 billion US dollars in solar panel manufacturing and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

Meanwhile, in terms of foreign exchange potential and state revenue, this electricity export cooperation has the potential to increase foreign exchange by 4 to 6 billion US dollars per year and 210-600 million dollars, the potential for additional state revenue.
