Less Effective, Prabowo Revokes The Presidential Regulation Of The Jokowi Era Saber Extortion Task Force

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto revoked the rules regarding the Illegal Sweeping Sweeping Task Force (Satgas Saber Pungli) which was formed during the era of the administration of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.

The revocation is regulated through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 49 of 2025 concerning Revocation of Presidential Regulation Number 87 of 2016 concerning the Illegal Sweeping Task Force.

"Presidential Regulation Number 87 of 2016 concerning the Illegal Charges Sweeping Task Force (State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia of 2016 Number 202), is revoked and declared invalid," reads Article 1 of the Presidential Regulation, quoted from the Documentation Network and Legal Information page of the Ministry of State Secretariat reported by ANTARA, Thursday 19 June.

In the Presidential Decree, it is stated that the presence of the Saber Extortion Task Force is no longer effective, so it needs to be disbanded. President Prabowo's Presidential Decree Number 49 of 2025 is set on May 6, 2025.

The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo has set Presidential Decree Number 87 of 2016 concerning the Illegal Sweeping Sweeping Task Force.

The Saber Extortion Task Force is believed to be able to eradicate the practice of levies, both at the central and regional levels, through the active participation of the community.
