Australian Citizens Shooting In Bali Arrested For Red Light Indicator Autogate Soetta Airport
JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) has arrested a foreign national (WNA) from Australiapanda Francesco Jenson (DFJ) who was involved in the shooting of another Australian citizen in Badung, Bali.
DFJ was secured by Immigration officers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, Monday (16/6) morning, while trying to escape from Indonesia to Singapore with the end of Cambodia.
"The arrest of DFJ shows the effectiveness of coordination of immigration and Interpol, as well as the crucial role of technology and collaboration between institutions in maintaining national security and sovereignty," said Minister Imipas Agus Andrianto, Wednesday, June 18.
Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman explained that the DFJ was secured on time thanks to the "urgent inspection" submitted by Interpol Indonesia.
DFJ was arrested when the person concerned could not pass out of Indonesia because the lights on the airport's autogate showed a red color. The light indicates that DFJ is included in the immigration penalty list.
"This arrest proves that our autogate is a reliable solution for efficient passenger crossings with the best security," said Yuldi.
Officers at the location then secured DFJ and contacted the Directorate General of Immigration for further treatment.
After that, the Immigration Supervision Sub-Directorate Team together with the Indonesian Interpol Team immediately picked up DFJ and took him to the Directorate General of Immigration Building, Jakarta, for further investigation.
Based on the results of the examination, DFJ is strongly indicated to be involved in the shooting of Australian citizens in Bali. Therefore, DFJ was handed over to the Badung Resort Police, Bali, for further legal proceedings.
"In accordance with the duties and functions, we handed over DFJ to the police for examination and follow-up on the alleged crime he committed," said Yuldi, quoted by ANTARA.
