BANDUNG - The West Java Regional Police (Polda) named 44 people as suspects in the conventional gambling case that was raided in the Kosambi area, Bandung City.

West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan said this determination was made after the police arrested 63 people during a raid carried out on Tuesday (17/6) in the early hours of the morning.

"There are already suspects with the initials AP and CW, there are approximately 18 players, and the other group is involved in gambling as organizers or operators, such as cashiers, card players. Those are the clusters that we did, the number of suspects is 44 people," said Rudi in Bandung, Wednesday, June 18, reported by ANTARA.

The raid was carried out at the New Ballroom Billiard, Karaoke, and Live Music entertainment venue on Jalan Ahmad Yani No.126, Malabar Village, Lengkong District, Bandung City.

Rudi stated that the gambling location was under the guise of a karaoke and futsal entertainment venue, and only operated for three days before being raided by a joint team from the West Java Police Cyber Sub-Directorate led directly by the West Java Deputy Chief of Police.

"What is interesting is that this place has only been operating for three days. But it has carried out activities that clearly violate the law. So we, the West Java Regional Police together with Forkopimda, are determined to eliminate all forms of activities that are troubling the community and violate the law in the West Java region," said Rudi.

During the raid, the police confiscated a number of evidences, including cash of more than Rp350 million, gambling tools, and a number of bank accounts. The police are also investigating the flow of funds from the gambling practice.

"From the ATMs and accounts that we managed to confiscate, there was Rp. 2.7 billion in the account, and we are still investigating whether it was a gambling turnover or not. We will continue to develop and we will follow the flow of money," he said.

Rudi emphasized that this case will continue to be developed in order to uncover networks and other perpetrators involved in gambling activities in the West Java region.

"For the ranks, we all agree, especially the Police, we have never supported or allowed any form of illegal activity in West Java," he said.
