Please Extradition Paulus Tannos Smoothly, KPK: Good Precedent For Indonesia-Singapore

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) appreciates the Singaporean authorities for rejecting the suspension of detention put forward by their fugitive in the corruption case in the procurement of electronic ID cards (e-KTP), Paulus Tannos. This step is expected to make the ongoing extradition process smooth.

"The KPK positively welcomes the decision of the Singapore court which has rejected the request for a suspension of the PT DPO," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters in a written statement quoted on Wednesday, June 18.

Budi said Paulus was still in custody. He will then undergo a preliminary hearing regarding the extradition process next week.

"Furthermore, the preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 23 to 25, 2025," he said.

The KPK, continued Budi, hopes that the extradition process between Indonesia and Singapore will run smoothly for the first time. Thus, cooperation in eradicating corruption can be stronger between countries.

"And it is a good precedent for the cooperation of the two Indonesian-Singapore parties," he said.

As previously reported, the Ministry of Law (Kemenkum) said the extradition of fugitives from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) related to corruption in the procurement of electronic ID cards (e-KTP), Paulus Tannos from Singapore continues to proceed. There is a trial that must be carried out even though local authorities reject the request for a suspension of detention he submitted.

After the trial at the Singapore court, there is still an appeal process. Both Indonesia and Paulus Tannos have only one chance.

Meanwhile, Paulus Tannos, who is the President Director of PT Sandipala Arthapura, was finally arrested by Singaporean authorities after being on the wanted list since 2021. He was named a suspect in the corruption case in the procurement of electronic identity cards (e-KTP) by the KPK in 2019.

At that time he was named a suspect by the KPK along with three other people, namely Isnu Edhi Wijaya as the former President Director of the Indonesian National Printing Corporation (PNRI); 2014-2019 DPR RI member Miryam S Haryani; and former Head of the Information Technology Technical Team for the Application of e-KTP Husni Fahmi.
