Danantara-INA Injects IDR 13 Trillion Funds For Chandra Asri's Soda Api Factory Project
JAKARTA - The Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) and the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) will invest in the soda Api and Ethilen Diklorida factory projects undertaken by a subsidiary of Chandra Asri Group.
The value of joint investment for the project reached 800 million United States (US) dollars, or equivalent to Rp. 13.03 trillion (exchange rate of Rp. 16,291 per US dollar).
The construction of the Chlor Alkali-Ethylene Dichloride (CA-EDC) plant has been started since last year. The construction of the factory managed by PT Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA) is still in its first phase, has a production capacity of 400,000 tons of solid caustic soda per year equivalent to 827,000 tons in liquid form, and 500,000 tons of Ethylene Dikloride.
Danantara's Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Pandu Sjahrir said as part of the National Strategic Project, this collaboration supports industries that can be scaled up and can reduce imports with long-term growth potential.
"The downstream industry is at the heart of Indonesia's economic transformation and offers great opportunities for future-minded investors," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, June 17.
Furthermore, Pandu said this investment strengthens national resilience by reducing dependence on imports on important products such as soda fire and Ethylene Dikloride.
"In Danantara Indonesia, we welcome global partners who have the same vision to build a strong and high-value industrial ecosystem in the dynamic Asian economy," he said.
Similarly, INA's Chief Executive Officer, Ridha Wirakusumah said the presence of the CA-EDC factory will also reduce dependence on imported soda fire and Ethilen Diklorida, with savings projections of up to IDR 4.9 trillion per year.

Not only that, the production of Ethylene Dichloride from the factory will also be exported, resulting in foreign exchange potential of up to IDR 5 trillion per year.
In addition to economic benefits, the CA-EDC plant will allow domestic production for a variety of important inputs for industries such as water treatment, soap and detergent manufacturing, alumina purification, and nickel processing.
