Illegal And Infrastructure Trading At The Border Becomes The Attention Of Pangdam VI Mulawarman
TANJUNG SELOR - Commander of Kodam VI/Mulawarman, Major General Rudy Rahmat Nugraga emphasized that securing border areas in North Kalimantan Province (Kaltara) will continue to be improved by forming a task force (Satgas).
This is done to maintain defense and prevent potential threats to the sovereignty of the Nation and the State.
This was conveyed by the Pangdam to the media crew after the handover of the position (Sertijab) of the Commander of Korem 092/Maharajala from Brigadier General Adek Chandra Kurniawan to Brigadier General Mohammad Sjahroni in Tanjung Selor, Monday 16/June.
"The problem of illegal fishing and smuggling other illegal goods is still happening. This needs serious attention," said the Pangdam.
"This Kaltara has a state border area and is the responsibility of Korem 092. So this is a concern for the new Danrem," he added.

In addition, the Pangdam also highlighted the problem of narcotics trafficking in the Kaltara area, which according to him needed serious treatment through cross-sectoral synergies.
"The handling of narcotics will be carried out together with the Kaltara Police, BNN, and TNI. Our focus is on guarding the rat routes that are commonly used in illicit drug trafficking," he said.
The Military Commander also revealed that although Korem 092, it was still relatively new, his party had not added personnel to serve in the Kaltara territorial area.
"We are currently still making internal improvements and completing existing units. Some infrastructure is also still in this development stage which is a concern to be improved," said the Second Star General.
He added that Kaltara is one of the provinces in Indonesia that has a fairly long border line.
Based on existing data, the border length in Kaltara is about 1,038 kilometers. However, of this number, there are about 281 kilometers of which there has been no guard.
"As in the Malinau Regency area, there used to be approximately 20 posts in the border area, but for now we will pull it first, there are about 281 kilometers that have not been guarded, entering the Kayan Mentarang National Park area," he added.
This is due to a very difficult terrain so that for the time being guarding the border is located quite far away but tactically the border area is still safe.
"But God willing, in the near future we will move back there, because we are still building a road from Long Bagun to Long Nawang or from the East Kalimantan area to Kaltara," he concluded.
