Komdigi Still Closes World Access And Asks All User Iris Data To Be Removed

JAKARTA - Director General of Digital Space Supervision of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Alexander Sabar said that he would still impose a temporary suspension of the World platform.

This step is the result of a thorough clarification and examination process of slash biometric data collection activity by Tools For Humanity (TFH), including its local partner PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara (PT SAN).

"The suspension is still enforced. These sanctions are preventive measures taken to protect the public from the risk of collecting iris biometric data and are a follow-up to the clarification and thorough examination process," Alex said in a statement Monday, June 16.

In addition, Komdigi has set four main obligations that must be fulfilled by TFH and its partners, such as stopping the collection and scanning of slices to Indonesians and deleting all eye slashing data stored on users' devices.

"We also provide recommendations for comprehensive improvements to personal data governance, data protection systems, and TFH operational procedures," explained Alex.

Komdigi also asked TFH and its partners to comply with applicable regulations. Because, the continuity of TFH activities in Indonesia will depend on the company's real commitment in upholding compliance with national regulations and showing real social responsibility to the community.

"We are always committed to keeping Indonesia's digital space safe, fair, and responsible through surveillance activities in the digital space," he concluded.
