In Addition To The Increase In Salaries, The KPK Reminds The Importance Of Judge Supervision
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that supervision of judges needed to be strengthened. This step is considered to be able to maximize the duties and functions of the justices so as to avoid corrupt practices.
This was conveyed by KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo in response to President Prabowo Subianto's statement which planned to increase the judge's salary by 280 percent.
"In addition to the increase in salary, strong supervision is also needed so that in carrying out its duties and functions it is also carried out with full responsibility," Budi told reporters quoted on Monday, June 16.
Budi agrees that the increase in salaries for judges can indeed improve and keep away from the temptation of money. However, monitoring and strengthening the system is equally important.
"And of course a system is also needed, yes, so that all mechanisms, all procedures that become a forum for the implementation of the duties and functions of the judge can also truly fortify the judges to carry out their duties and authorities in accordance with the mechanisms and standard operating procedures," he explained.
President Prabowo Subianto stated that he was ready to reduce the TNI and Polri budget in order to increase the salaries of the judges. This step is expected to prevent them from being bribed by corruptors.

"If I need another budget, I will reduce it. Here there is the TNI Commander and there is the National Police Chief, if necessary I will reduce the TNI and Polri budget. It's useless for us to have a great police officer, a great soldier. The corruptor, the thief, once the court passes. It's a pity that my son, the National Police Chief," Prabowo said while giving a speech at the inauguration ceremony. 1,451 judges at the Supreme Court Building, Jakarta, Thursday, June 12, confiscated by Antara.
The president further ordered his staff, especially the Minister of Finance, to increase the salaries of all judges in Indonesia.
"We need judges who really can't be denied, can't be bought and once I become President, I'm surprised I asked how the judge is doing," said the President.
