JAKARTA - The 2025 President's Cup will start on July 6, 2025. This pre-season tournament will involve four local teams and two foreign teams and fight for prizes worth IDR 5.5 billion.
The four local teams that will compete on this agenda are Persib Bandung, Dewa United, Arema FC, and Indonesia All Star. Meanwhile, the two foreign teams that participated in the 2025 President's Cup were Oxford United (England) and Port FC (Thailand).
PSSI General Chairperson (Ketum), Erick Thohir, who was also present at the 2025 Presidential Cup press conference revealed the reasons for the involvement of two foreign teams in this tournament.
"We invite to give appreciation to international clubs that help the quality of our Indonesian national team players."
"Because in building the Indonesian national team it is impossible to work alone. We must appreciate local clubs and foreign clubs," said Erick Thohir in a statement quoted on Friday, June 13, 2025.

Regarding the prizes given, the organizers of the 2025 Presidential Cup emphasized that the funds were not the APBN. The committee sought tournament funds from various third-party sponsors.
Later, the opening of the 2025 Presidential Cup will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta. After that, the 2025 Presidential Cup took place in Bandung, precisely Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.
The 2025 President's Cup prize is the same as last year, where the first winner will get IDR 5.5 billion. Then, runners-up has the right to be given IDR 3 billion, third place to reach IDR 2 billion, and fourth place to get IDR 1 billion.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Steering Committee for the 2025 President's Cup, Maruarar Sirait, has confirmed the readiness of this seventh edition of the pre-season tournament.
"I checked in Bandung, Thursday I checked GBLA (Gelora Bandung Lautan Api) it turned out to be not conducive in terms of grass."
"Pak Dedi (Governor of West Java Dedi Mulyadi), two weeks ago he was there, with Pak Farhan (Mayor of Badung Muhammad Farhan). We conclude that GBLA is not ready. So, we go to Si Jalak Harupat," said Maruarar.
This year's edition will be the first edition of the President's Cup followed by foreign clubs. In the previous six events, this pre-season tournament only involved the domestic team.
"The reason is, I think it is good so that we will also compete with (teams) abroad for our Indonesian national team. That way, our clubs are also used to playing with foreign clubs," he said.
The number of teams in the 2025 edition is confirmed to be the least compared to the previous editions.
In the first edition in 2015 there were 16 teams participating. Then, it increased to 20 teams in the second edition (2017), third (2018), and fourth (2019).
Then, it was reduced again to 18 teams in the fifth edition (2022) and then eight teams in the latest edition (2024).
Arema became the most successful team because she won this tournament four times in 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2024.
