Prabowo Raises Judge's Salary, Chief Justice Of The Supreme Court: No Tolerance Of All Transactional Violations

JAKARTA - Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (MA) Sunarto said there would be no tolerance and firm action against judges who committed transactional violations.

This step is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's decision to increase the salaries of judges in Indonesia by 280 percent.

"The Supreme Court will firmly enforce the principle of zero tolerance, namely the policy of zero tolerance for all forms of violations and irregularities, including transactional services," said Sunarto, Friday, June 13.

According to him, judges who are involved in transactional practices will never feel satisfied, like someone drinking sea water when fighting.

"You need to remember, once you fall into transactional services, it's like drinking seawater. The more you drink, the more you are thirsty," said Sunarto.

The judges will also receive strict sanctions if they are found to be re-acting transactional activities.

"If that happens, let alone Rp. 1 million, Rp. 100 million, I'll just remove my position, I'm non-familiar. This is not a threat, but this is in order to maintain the dignity of the brothers and sisters," said Sunarto.

The new judges were reminded not to pawn their positions just for the sake of money.

"Don't cancel your position, only with the size of the Dollar and Rupiah, because brothers as representatives of God are the foundation of many people. Please, we are really looking for happiness in the world, we are also looking for happiness in the hereafter," said Sunarto.

"What has been collected incorrectly will also come out of you incorrectly," he continued.

President Prabowo previously announced that the government would increase the judge's salary by 280 percent. This was conveyed at the inauguration of the Supreme Court (MA) Judge.

Prabowo has ordered his staff to make money to raise the judge's salary.

Even the president did not hesitate to reduce the budget posture of the TNI and Polri.

Prabowo also emphasized that one of the requirements to become a successful country is a fair legal system. According to him, countries that do not have a good legal system will experience instability that must be anticipated.

The increase in the judge's salary has also been regulated in Government Regulation Number 44 of 2024 concerning the Third Amendment to Amendment to Government Regulation Number 94 of 2012 concerning Financial Rights and Facilities of Judges Under the Supreme Court (MA).
