8 National Education Standards: Anything And Why It's Important?

YOGYAKARTA - In the world of education, the problem is related to how can we measure and ensure that the education provided has reached the expected standards?

The answer lies with the 8 National Education Standards (SNP) which are prepared not only for formality lists, but also for crucial guidelines that are the backbone of the education system in Indonesia.

Then, what are these eight standards and why is understanding the importance of being vital to every element of education, ranging from students, teachers, parents, to policymakers? Through this article, let's have a complete operation.

Reporting from the Ministry of Education and Culture page, SKL is the minimum benchmark for the combination of competence, skills, and knowledge that students must achieve after completing certain levels of education.

This SKL is the main foundation for the development of other educational standards, such as Standard Content, Standard Process, Standard Assessment, Education Personnel Standards, Facilities and Infrastructure Standards, Management Standards, and Financing Standards.

The Standard Content is one of eight vital SNPs. Simply put, this standard is the minimum criterion regarding the scope of material that must be taught at every level, path, and type of education.

The purpose of the standard content is clear, namely to ensure that every graduate has the competencies needed.

Have you ever wondered why some learning sessions felt more effective and fun than others? The answer often lies in the Standard Process.

The standard process functions as a minimum guideline for the course of the learning process in any school or educational institution.

The Standard Process ensures that every teaching and learning activity is planned, implemented, and assessed in an optimal way. The goal is simple but fundamental, namely developing the potential, initiative, ability, and independence of each student to the fullest.

Education Assessment Standards establish minimal criteria for student learning outcome evaluation mechanisms. This includes a systematic set of procedures, ranging from formulation of assessment goals, instrument selection, implementation of assessment, processing, to reporting results.

The form of this standard omission also varies, there is a formative assessment that aims to improve learning, and a sumative assessment to measure the final achievement.

The standard for education personnel is a reference that regulates the qualifications and competencies that must be possessed by educators and other education personnel (such as principals, graduates, and laboratories).

Although this standard is crucial to ensure the quality of educational human resources, unfortunately the arrangement is still in the drafting stage to date.

This standard is the minimum criteria for physical facilities that must exist in every educational institution, which includes facilities (such as tools and furniture) and infrastructure (such as buildings and land) needed to support the teaching and learning process at all levels, from PAUD to secondary education.

Specifically, this standard also regulates the availability of special facilities and infrastructure for early childhood education, vocational education, and for students with disabilities, ensuring an inclusive and adequate learning environment for all.

Management standards are the minimum criteria that regulate how planning, implementation, and supervision of educational activities must be carried out in every education unit.

The purpose of the management standard is to ensure that the entire education process runs efficiently and effectively, in order to achieve the optimal quality of education administration.

Financing standards set the minimum limit of the cost components needed so that an education unit can function optimally.

This standard includes investment costs, such as the development and procurement of assets, as well as routine operational costs, such as teachers' salaries and maintenance.

The purpose of the financing standard is to guide all parties, from the government to the community, to ensure the fulfillment of financial needs for the implementation of quality education.
