Distribution Of Delayed Scholarships, Indef Highlights The Impact Of Postponing BI Scholarships On Students

JAKARTA - Director of Big Data Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) Eko Listiyanto said that the postponement of Bank Indonesia (BI) scholarship distribution can be understood if it aims to improve governance in order to optimize support for the development of Indonesian human resources (HR).

However, Eko emphasized the importance of certainty of time related to the delay so as not to drag on and also reminded that the impact on scholarship recipients could be anticipated properly, so that their study would not be disrupted.

"Of course, don't let improvements drag on, there must be certainty of time related to the length of delay. In addition, it is also necessary to anticipate the impact on recipients of student duties, lest student duties recipients are hampered by studies due to this delay," he told VOI, Thursday, June 12.

He said that Bank Indonesia must coordinate with campuses where BI scholarship recipients are studying so that it can be one way to reduce uncertainty due to this delay.

"Coordination with campuses where GenBI (New Indonesian Generation) lectures can be a way to reduce uncertainty regarding the delay plan," he explained.

Furthermore, Eko assessed, if an evaluation is carried out to improve governance order and prudence in distributing scholarships in the future, then this is the right step.

Previously, Bank Indonesia (BI) decided to postpone the distribution of scholarships for students and students.

Meanwhile, the announcement was delivered directly through the official Instagram account @bank_indonesia.

In the upload, BI said that it fully understands the aspirations of the community regarding the decision to postpone the distribution of scholarships.

In the upload, it was explained that the delay was carried out because Bank Indonesia was currently evaluating and strengthening governance for all activities of the Bank Indonesia Social Program, including the Scholarship Program.

"This evaluation is a form of responsibility to strengthen the foundation of the scholarship program by ensuring maximum accountability and positive impacts," he wrote on the official Bank Indonesia Instagram account, quoted on Thursday, June 12.

On the other hand, Bank Indonesia emphasized that it is committed to supporting the development of Indonesian human resources (HR), especially in the field of education.

For information, BI since 2011 has distributed scholarships to 89,305 students and 2,590 vocational students through collaboration with 206 universities and 29 vocational schools throughout Indonesia.
