PT Waskita Karya Tbk (WSKT) has completed the structuring project for the Pendem Ambarawa Fort (Benteng Fort Willem 1) area in Semarang Regency, Central Java (Central Java). The project value reached Rp152.5 billion.
Waskita Karya Corporate Secretary Ermy Puspa Yunita said the company has actually completed the Fort Pendem Ambarawa Phase I project since last year. However, it is currently under maintenance.
Later, the area that has its back to Mount Ungaran will be opened to the public. "We are sure that later the project can attract many world-class tourists to Ambarawa," said Ermy in his official statement, Tuesday, June 10.
According to Ermy, it is not easy to work on the largest fort project on the island of Java, which was built in the 19th century as the main defense as well as a colonial prison in the war of independence.
This is because the company must maintain its original building structure.
Meanwhile, strengthening with coating layers must be done, so that it is not easily damaged and filled with moss
"We feel very proud to be able to work on and contribute to protecting cultural heritage sites in Central Java," he said.
Based on the Decree of the Regent of Semarang Number 432/0112/2021, Fort Fort Willem I was designated as the Regency-Ranking Cultural Heritage Site.
The building has also fulfilled the definition of a cultural heritage building based on Government Regulation (PP) No. 16 of 2021.
