Pasha Ungu Questions The Silence Of The Label Behind The Chaos Of Music Copyright

JAKARTA - The vocalist of Ungu, Sigit Purnomo alias Pasha, sees the chaos about copyright in the Indonesian music industry becoming increasingly tangled and unhealthy.

Through a statement delivered via Instagram uploads, the musician who is also a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) saw the worse the relationship between songwriters and performers.

The relationship, which was once full of a sense of brotherhood between vocal singers/bands and songwriters, is getting tangled and unhealthy," Pasha wrote, citing an upload caption, Tuesday, June 10.

Behind the dispute between songwriters and performers, Pasha highlighted the silence of the music label to date.

"Why doesn't the record label talk?" he said.

According to Pasha, the music label should be an intermediary in the chaotic copyright that has occurred. Not to mention, the label had a big hand in the deal with the songwriter when the work was released.

"Regardless of regulations/rules, at least record labels can be present to mediate and provide explanations between the two brothers who are at odds," said Pasha.
