Challenge Mazda CX-80 And Hyundai Palisade, BYD Will Bring A Big SUV In Australia
JAKARTA - BYD plans to expand its vehicle line in the Australian market by entering the seven-passenger car segment suspected of being Tang L in China.
Tang L is the successor to the previous SUV called Tang and has been marketed at home.
Although it cannot be explained in detail about the car, the company confirmed that it will bring in a seven-passenger SUV at the country market.
EVDirect (Australian BYD distributor) CEO David Smitherman confirmed that his party will launch a seven-passenger SUV in the near future.
"I am pleased to state that we want a seven-pass SUV, and I have said from day one that we need to focus on SUVs and pickup cars," Smitherman was quoted as saying by Drive, Monday, June 9.
Unfortunately, he did not reveal further about the model. However, the launch is expected to take place this year.
"I hope this year, but no one guarantees it," he added.

BYD Tang L has a wide dimension with a length of 5,040 mm, a width of 1,996 mm, a height of 1,970 mm, and a wheelbase of up to 2,950 mm. This will make it compete with several models such as Mazda CX-80 to Hyundai Palisade.
In China, this car is powered by a Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) system armed with a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder turbod cylinder combined with an electric motor, an E-CVT transmission, and a BYD Blade LFP battery.
Tang L is claimed to have a consumption of 4.9 to 6 liters of fuel per 100 km according to the NEDC cycle.
Meanwhile, Tang L is also available in the pure EV variant powered by a 500 kW electric motor for rear wheels (RWD) and 810 kW for all wheels (AWD). Because it has a large dimension, BYD Tang L has a battery with a capacity of 100.5 kWh capable of running up to a range of 600 and 670 km depending on the selection of its variant.
