BMKG Warns Potential High Waves Up To 4 Meters In Several Indonesian Waters

JAKARTA The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned of the potential for high waves in a number of Indonesian waters starting Monday, June 9, 2025 at 07.00 WIB until Thursday, June 12, 2025.

The highest wind speeds were observed in several areas, including the northern part of the Malacca Strait, the western Indian Ocean of the Nias Islands, and the Banda Sea.

A number of water areas that have the potential to experience high waves between 2.5 and 4 meters include:

- Indian Ocean west Aceh - Indian Ocean south of Banten - Indian Ocean south of West Java - Indian Ocean south of Central Java - Indian Ocean south of East Java - Indian Ocean south of Yogyakarta

BMKG appealed to the public, especially fishermen and parties who are active at sea, to increase awareness of the potential danger of high waves that could endanger shipping safety.
