Central Java Police Clarification Of Premanism Affiliated Ormas Statement

JAKARTA The Central Java Regional Police (Polda) gave an official clarification regarding the previous statement which stated that there were 11 social organizations (ormas) affiliated with thuggery acts. This statement had sparked objections from a number of mass organizations, including the pencak silat college.

The clarification was delivered directly by the Deputy Chief of the Central Java Police, Brigadier General Pol Latif Usman, after attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Food Security Warehouse in Boyolali.

He emphasized that there was no intention of cornering or generalizing certain mass organizations in the operation to eradicate thuggery carried out through the 2025 Candi Safe Operation.

"In the previous press conference, we mentioned that there are 11 mass organizations affiliated with thuggery. What we mean is the involvement of individuals or individuals who claim to be part of the mass organization, not the organization as a whole," said Brigadier General Latif Usman.

He admitted that there was a diction error that caused different interpretations in the community. Therefore, his party felt the need to straighten out information so that it does not develop into a wider misunderstanding.

The Deputy Chief of Police also apologized publicly to all parties who were offended, including mass organizations such as Pagar Nusa, PSHT, and others.

"I apologize to mass organizations or pencak silat colleges who feel aggrieved by this statement. Once again I emphasize, what is meant is the person who wears the attributes of mass organizations, not the organization," he said.

Brigadier General Latif also highlighted the circulation of video clips of press conferences on social media which he considered had removed the complete context of the police's official statement.

According to him, in the disclosure of thuggery cases, certain individuals and groups were prosecuted, but that did not mean that all mass organizations were involved. He asked the public to be wise in receiving information, especially if it was distributed in the form of video clips without a complete context.

Furthermore, the Central Java Police emphasized their commitment to taking firm action against all forms of thuggery in accordance with applicable law. He invited all elements of society to jointly create a safe and conducive environment.

"We invite all mass organizations and the wider community to work together to eradicate thuggery. The active role of the community is very important in maintaining regional security stability," he said.

At the end of his statement, Brigadier General Latif again emphasized that there was no attempt from the National Police to stigmatize mass organizations as criminals.

"We have never generalized mass organizations as perpetrators of thuggery. Let us commit together to eradicate actions that are troubling the community in order to support a stable social and economic climate in Central Java," he concluded.
