Jus Jambu Ore Has Not Been Proven To Raise The Tromblet, This Is A Doctor's Explanation
JAKARTA - Jus guava is often used as an option when a person has dengue fever because it is believed to help increase platelet levels. However, has this benefit been scientifically proven?
According to dr. Mulya Rahma Karyanti, Sp.A(K), M.Sc, PhD, a consultant for infections and child tropical diseases from FKUI RSCM, until now there is no strong scientific evidence to support claims that guava juice can increase platelets in patients with dengue infections.
"If it is proven that guava juice scientifically can increase platelets, of course it has always been used as part of dengue therapy. Unfortunately, until now there has been no scientific study that really supports this," said dr. Mulya as quoted by ANTARA, June 4.
He added that there is no prohibition against consuming fruit, including guava, as long as the patient likes it. However, parents do not need to force their children to drink guava juice if they don't like it, because it can actually have a negative impact.
If children are forced to drink juice that is not liked, they may even vomit. If you vomit, the body's fluids will decrease, and this could worsen the condition of children who are experiencing dengue fever," he explained.
Under these conditions, maintaining liquid intake is a crucial step. Parents are encouraged to ensure that children get enough fluids from both the water and the juice of the fruit they love to prevent dehydration.

Furthermore, dr. Mulya emphasized the importance of monitoring the condition of children with fever for more than two days.
"The fever that lasts for two to three days and does not show improvement must be immediately consulted with the doctor," he said. Because, in this early phase, the risk of complications, including hyponolemic shock, can increase if the treatment is late.
To ensure patient condition, doctors will usually carry out further examinations such as blood laboratories, ultrasound, or chest X-rays. If the results show dengue infection, medical treatment will be focused on maintaining the balance of body fluids.
Symptoms that need to be watched out for include children who appear weak, reduced activity, more often sleepy, and can even experience seizures. These symptoms are often the result of severe dehydration which causes blood circulation to vital organs such as the brain and kidneys to be disturbed.
One method of care at home that parents can do is compress children with warm water, especially if high fever does not go down even though they have been given hot depletion medication. Kompres should be done in an area with large blood vessels such as armpits, not on the forehead, for 1015 minutes.
This method is effective enough to lower body temperature and also prevent seizures due to fever, explained dr. Mulya.
In conclusion, although jambu juice can be consumed as part of a healthy diet, there is no strong evidence that this drink can directly increase platelets in dengue fever patients. The main focus remains on hydration, monitoring symptoms, and on time medical consultations.
