Man's Hand Stuck In Train Hand Sandar While Looking For AirPods, Firefighters Intervene
JAKARTA - Firefighters in Germany must use hydraulic equipment to free a man caught under the back of a train while looking for the fallen AirPods.
Emergency services were called to Lehrte Station in north-central Germany on Friday evening last week, following a report that said a passenger was caught, a local fire department said in a statement published Saturday.
"What initially looked like a pretty simple rescue then developed into a complicated rescue operation, however, because the person's hands had swollen so much that they could no longer be released using simple rescue equipment," the fire department said.
Firefighters had to dismantle the trunk and seat racks, then look over the back before using hydraulic equipment to free the man, who was trapped for about an hour and a half in total, the statement said.
"The victim was then handed over to emergency services along with his AirPods, which have also been rescued," said the fire department, which recorded a total of 11 firefighters and two vehicles used in the operation.
Police were also called to the scene because of what the firefighters described as an "unpleasant sight" involving residents who wanted to watch.

"To prevent people from looking around from taking pictures of victims trapped with their cell phones, operating areas are not only closed in large areas, but direct views are also blocked by rescue blankets mounted on the outside of the train," the fire department said.
"Because the length of time it takes to free the victim, the train is evacuated and the replacement train carries the remaining passengers to continue the journey," he added.
