'Demon Slayer' "Beats" 'Mortal Kombat' In US Cinemas

JAKARTA - The Demon Slayer anime film still shows its fangs. Sunday, May 2, the film officially ranked number one on the US box office charts.

Demon Slayer and Mortal Kombat played last week in the US and earned revenue that was not much different.

Citing from Variety today, Monday, Demon Slayer earned USD 6.4 million (approximately IDR 92 million) to rival Mortal Kombat with USD 6.2 million.

Previously, the film Demon Slayer set various box office records. In Japan, this film became the most successful film of all time through several Ghibli films.

Meanwhile, Mortal Kombat, which is adapted from a video game, is also playing via the HBO Max streaming service. The film, starring Joe Taslim, is one of the films included in Warner Bros. plans in 2021.

It is not yet known how long Demon Slayer ranks first considering that in the next few months, a series of new films will air.

Some of them are A Quiet Place II, Black Widow, and Fast and Furious: F9. All three films will be released this summer.
