The Results Of The Investigation Of The Ministry Of Public Works Regarding Allegations Of Unscrupulous Officials Receiving Gratification

JAKARTA - The Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Public Works (Irjen PU) issued the results of an investigation related to the alleged gratification of unscrupulous PU officials.

The results of the investigation found gratuities in the form of rupiah currency amounting to Rp. 10 million and US$ 5,900 or equivalent to Rp. 96 million. The total gratuity is Rp. 100.6 million.

"Current cash has been confiscated by Inspector General and will then be returned to the giver because the money is a personal money that is intended to help/support a series of wedding events," reads an excerpt from the investigation signed by Inspector General of Public Works Dadan Rukmana.

However, the core of the investigation was the suspicion that a head of the bureau asked the head of the headquarters to collect money for the wedding ceremony of an official child at the Ministry of Public Works.

A thorough audit at the Bureau led by D, considering the imposition of disciplinary sanctions for violations of the code of ethics and behavior, he continued.

Previously, the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo explained the alleged gratification for the marriage of the daughter of a PU Ministry official.

Dody said that the alleged origin of a letter signed by the Inspector General of the Ministry of Public Works was leaked.

The letter contained the results of an interim audit of a head of the bureau who collected money for the marriage of a child of a PU official.

"I have received a report from Mr. Inspector General a while ago, but I have ordered Mr. Inspector General to follow up. We have not received further reports," said Dody.

He admitted that he submitted the full examination process to the Inspector General of the Ministry of Public Works Dadang Rukmana.

He also did not want to speculate on the potential to continue the examination process to the criminal realm.

Dody himself always prioritizes the principle of presumption of innocence.

"If for example it is felt like the irjen will have a criminal element, he will definitely delegate it to the KPK, prosecutor's office, or the police," said Dody.

Dody also kept the names of his subordinates a secret. He only made sure to replace several officials suspected of carrying out the gratuities.

Furthermore, Dody advised all ASN Ministry of Public Works to work according to statutory regulations.

He didn't want a similar incident to happen again.

"I have talked about Public Works personnel many times so that every second it presents God in his heart. No one can supervise anymore, except God, not the KPK, not the prosecutor's office, not the police," he said.
