Budi Arie Optimistic 80 Thousand Kopdes Formed Before The End Of June 2025

Minister of Cooperatives Budi Arie Setiadi is optimistic that as many as 80 thousand Red and White Village Cooperatives (Kopdes) will be formed before the end of June 2025.

Budi Arie explained, based on the latest data until May 28, 2025 at 19.00 WIB, the number of villages and sub-districts that have officially formed the Kopdes through special village deliberations reached 60,806 units.

This means that currently there are only less than 20,000 cooperatives that still have to be pursued to accelerate their formation.

"Seeing the existing developments, we are increasingly confident that the target assigned to the task force will be achieved. For the socialization itself, it has been carried out to 81,184 villages/kelurahan throughout Indonesia," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 28.

The development of the number of cooperatives that have been formed can be accessed through kopdesrerahputih.kop.id.

The Coordinating Minister emphasized that 18 ministries and institutions together with task forces at the regional level simultaneously made acceleration efforts, including assistance to villages to immediately establish and form a Kopdes.

It is hoped that the launch of this big program can be carried out on July 12, 2025, coinciding with National Cooperative Day.

Budi Arie reiterated that the Kopdes Merah Putih program was designed to provide direct benefits for the village community so that villages can become the center of new economic movements. In addition, to help accelerate poverty alleviation and inequality in the village.

"With the Kopdes/KelMerah Putih, it is hoped that an independent, resilient and sustainable village economic ecosystem can be created," he said.

Previously, the government's initiative to establish 80 thousand Cooperatives in Red and White Village received criticism and input, one of which was conveyed by members of the DPR RI.

Member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives, Mufti Anam, in a working meeting with the minister of cooperatives in Jakarta, Monday (26/5), asked the government not to pursue quantities without paying attention to quality, especially until there was an act of threatening the village head in the formation of this village head.

He urged the Minister of Cooperatives to ensure that the Merah Putih Kopdes does not end up like a village unit (KUD) cooperative in the past and a number of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), which have collapsed a lot and have even been deliberately bankrupt for the benefit of a handful of parties.

Meanwhile, another member of Commission VI of the DPR, Firnando Hadityo Ganinduto, believes that the Ministry of Cooperatives should prioritize quality over quantity in the formation of Kopdes.

"There is no need to hurry, so that there is no abuse," he said.
