DKI DPRD Receives Extortion Complaints For KJMU Program

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta DPRD received complaints of illegal levies in the administrative process of the Superior Student Jakarta Card (KJMU) program at schools from a number of students.

This complaint was submitted by a group of students receiving KJMU on behalf of the Thousand Steps Movement. They reported that there were people who withdrew payments to students with different values so that the KJMU administration could be processed.

"There are complaints about illegal levies ranging from Rp. 50,000 to Rp. 5 million. We consider this very serious and must be stopped immediately," said Member of Commission E of the DKI Jakarta Provincial DPRD Raden Gusti Arief Yulifar, Wednesday, May 27.

Gusti assessed that the DKI Jakarta Education Office needed to immediately follow up on the extortion reports submitted by students.

"Students must be heard, and the KJMU program must continue to side with those in need," said Gusti.

With regard to this, Gusti proposed the establishment of a special task force (task force) to handle reports of alleged violations of the KJMU program. Its handling also needs to involve public participation.

"In addition, it is also necessary to involve the community because the number of program recipients reaches more than 16 thousand students," he said.

With regard to the program, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung plans to change the mechanism for registering the Superior Student Jakarta Card (KJMU) by students just once until graduation. This is one of his campaign promises in the 2024 Pilkada.

"The KJMU program, which was previously hampered, will continue and not be evaluated like it used to be every year. We will make them until they pass," said Pramono, some time ago.

Pramono also plans to increase KJMU's revenue quota from the previous 15 thousand to 20 thousand students. The budget comes from the allocation of the free breakfast program which has been canceled.

"I encourage Jakarta residents to have the opportunity to study up to a guaranteed doctoral degree, fully assisted by the DKI Jakarta government, as long as they can afford the GPA as long as they can afford it," said Pramono.
