Vice President Gibran Promises To Overcome Fuel Scarcity After Hearing Bengkulu Student Complaints

JAKARTA Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka received a number of aspirations from representatives of student and youth organizations in Bengkulu City, Tuesday night, May 27. The meeting took place at the hotel where the Vice President spent the night, after his visit to two gas stations affected by the scarcity of fuel oil (BBM).

In an official statement from the Vice Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta, Wednesday, May 28, it was stated that the students expressed concern over the scarcity of fuel which caused long queues at various gas stations. They asked the government to immediately resolve the issue.

Responding to the complaint, Vice President Gibran apologized to the students and the people of Bengkulu City for the inconvenience that occurred.

He explained that the scarcity of fuel was caused by obstacles in the distribution via sea routes due to the silting of the waters around the port of Baai Island, which prevented fuel carriers from leaning.

"The government has taken concrete steps to address this distribution problem so that the fuel supply returns smoothly," Gibran said in front of the students.

In addition to the fuel issue, students also conveyed various other issues, such as environmental pollution, tax problems, land ownership, and natural resource management in Bengkulu. The vice president appreciated students' concern and critical attitudes towards various regional issues.

The organizations present at the meeting included the Bengkulu Indonesian Muslim Student Action Unit (KAMMI), the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IMM), and the Indonesian National Student Movement (GMNI). Vice President Gibran was present at the dialogue with the Chairman of the DPD RI, Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin.
