North Sumatra's Kajati: Prosecutor Jhon Wesli Sinaga's Stabbing Motive Is Still Simpang Siur

The Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kajati North Sumatra) Idianto stated that the motive for the stabbing of Prosecutor Jhon Wesli Sinaga and ASN of the Deli Serdang District Attorney's Office, Asensio Silvanof Hutabarat, is still confusing.

"If the motive is still confusing, yes. However, from the victim's statement, he (Jaksa Jhon Wesli Sinaga) has never handled a case related to the party, it is said that he ordered the stabbing," said Idianto after visiting the two victims at Columbia Asia Hospital in Medan, Tuesday, May 27, as reported by ANTARA.

Based on the information that stated that the victim Prosecutor Jhon Wesli Sinaga was often asked for money, the victim's own confession denied.

Investigation of the victims Prosecutor Jhon Wesli Sinaga and ASN Kejari Deli Serdang Asensio Silvanof Hutabarat is still being carried out, and a number of motives are still being investigated.

"For certainty of the motive, we'll just have to wait at the trial later," said Idianto.

His party also said that the condition of the victim Prosecutor Jhon Wesli Sinaga is now showing positive progress after an operation by the medical team at Columbia Asia Hospital.

Prosecutor Jhon Wesli Sinaga's victim suffered serious and serious injuries due to the slashing of a sharp weapon, causing a number of his left hand veins to break.

The incident occurred when the two victims were in an oil palm plantation owned by Prosecutor Jhon Wesli Sinaga in Perbaingan Village, Kotarih District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, Saturday, May 24, 2025.

"Alhamdulillah, the results of the treatment showed progress. The victim's hands had experienced many broken veines, the doctor had successfully connected them, and the fingers had now begun to be moved. Doctors said that if it was only one hour late, the victim's life could not be saved," explained Idianto.

Member of the Prosecutor's Commission Rita Serena Kolibonso expressed concern over the incident of violence against law enforcement officers in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra.

Rita menyebutkan, pihaknya melakukan pemantauan langsung dengan mengunjungi korban Jaksa Jhon Wesli Sinaga dan ASN Kejari Deli Serdang Asensio Silvanof Hutabarat.

"We see this as an important reflection of the prosecutor's safety. Strict action against perpetrators of violence against prosecutors must be taken, and the security of law enforcement officers needs to be strengthened," he said.

His party also emphasized the importance of a thorough evaluation of the prosecutor's security system, especially after the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 66 of 2025.

Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 66 of 2025 concerning the Protection of the State against Prosecutors in Carrying Out Duties and Functions of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia.

"The prosecutor's safety must be guaranteed, both when carrying out his duties and outside his duties," said Rita after visiting the victim Prosecutor Jhon Wesli Sinaga.
