Amorism: Absence In European Competition Could Be An Advantage For Red Devils
JAKARTA - Manchester United will miss next season's European competition for the second time since the Premier League era. But Manchester United coach, Ruben Amorim, believes that the absence from the Champions League "can be an advantage" for the Red Devils next season.
The 2025/2026 season will be the first season in 11 years for United to only play a local competition at Old Trafford. This is also the second time they have competed in the Premier League era.
Manchester United finished in 15th place in their lowest Premier League in history in the division and failed to qualify for the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League after losing to Tottenham Hotspur in last week's Europa League final.
Even so, Amorim saw the positive side of the absence of interference from European competitions when entering his first full season as a coach.
"I have to say that not participating in the Champions League could be an advantage for us, to perform better, to prepare for a better match," he said at the club's post-season tour in Malaysia.

"To build the core of the team we need in the future, I think it's a good thing and we have to take advantage of it with no European games," he said.
MU itself is expected to be busy making transfer activities this summer to organize a better squad at Old Trafford.
Captain Bruno Fernandes had doubts about his future after the defeat to Spurs, but Amorim emphasized his support for the Portuguese player. "We are having difficult times this season," added the United coach.
"In those difficult times, it was clear that Bruno was a person who took responsibility. That has to be because he is captain and has experience, so he is very important to us and what we want to build with this team," explained Amorim.
