IBM Emphasizes The Importance Of AI's Role In Health Transformation In Southeast Asia
JAKARTA - Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is now the main driver of health services in Southeast Asia. However, there are still many challenges that need to be faced ranging from infrastructure, limited access, and increasingly complex needs.
To answer this challenge, IBM is working with regional partners in presenting AI-based solutions that are not only technologically sophisticated, but are also designed to answer real challenges.
"AI adoption in the health sector is not just an upgrade to technology, but part of real efforts to expand access to more quality and equitable services throughout Indonesia," said IBM Indonesia President Director Roy Kosasih in a statement.
For example in Indonesia, holi Pharma and ETHICA work closely with IBM and SAP in implementing a cloud-based ERP system, to accelerate production, increase operational visibility, and ensure the reliability of drug distribution.
Then in Thailand, IBM collaborated with Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital, in presenting an AI-based digital pathology system that accelerates cancer diagnosis and improves accuracy.
Since AI is a new technology that requires a strong ethical foundation, IBM emphasizes the importance of the principles of transparency, justice, and human supervision so that innovation remains focused on the interests of patients.

"We believe that cross-sectoral collaboration and ethical approaches will accelerate the creation of a more resilient and inclusive health system," added Roy.
Because according to him, when solutions such as the AI-based smart recipe system or telemedicine begin to be widely used, there will be great potential to build a more responsive, efficient, and patient-centered health system.
