Man In Mamuju Arrested By Police For Paying Bill Of IDR 4 Million In A Cafe Using Fake QRIS
JAKARTA - The Jatanras Opsnal Team of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the West Sulawesi Police arrested a fraudster who used a fake Indonesian Standard (QRIS) Quick Response Code.
Director of Criminal Investigation at the West Sulawesi Regional Police, Kombes Agus Nugraha, said the perpetrator with the initials RS (35), a resident of Arokke Hamlet, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi, was arrested at a cafe in Karema Village, Mamuju Regency, on Friday (23/5).
"This arrest is the result of an intensive investigation by the Sub-Directorate III of the Jatanras Ditreskrimum Polda Sulbar," Agus said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 26.
The perpetrator said Agus Nugraha used fake QRIS to trick cafe owners in the jurisdiction of the West Sulawesi Regional Police.
"We secured the perpetrator when he came back to the cafe, where the hospital had previously made fictitious transactions using fake QRIS. The total loss suffered by the victim reached Rp. 4 million," explained Agus Nugraha.
The fraudulent QRIS act carried out by Agus Nugraha continued hospital began when the perpetrator visited a cafe in the Andi Makkasau Street area, Karema Village, Mamuju.
At that time, the hospital said Agus Nugraha admitted to the cashier that they had made payments through QRIS.
However, one of the cafe employees was suspicious after there was no incoming payment notification, either through the m-banking application or cafe account.
The suspicion was then reported to the cafe owner, who then verified and confirmed no incoming funds.
"After confirming that no funds were entered, the cafe owner then reported and the perpetrator was finally arrested when he came back to the cafe," said Agus Nugraha.

In addition to arresting the RS, the Jatanras Ditreskrimum Opsnal team of the West Sulawesi Regional Police also managed to confiscate evidence, including a mobile phone, transaction evidence paper, three ATM cards and a lighter in the form of a firearm.
"Currently, we are still conducting further investigations and developments to find out the possibility of other locations being targeted by the perpetrators," explained Agus Nugraha.
