DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Plans To Build JIS-Ancol Liaison Bridge

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta plans to build a 300-meter long bridge connecting the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and the Ancol area to support international-scale events.

"We can perfect this JIS. We connect JIS with Ancol, we make a bridge with a length of approximately 300 meters. All (vehicles) park at JIS later in Ancol," said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung in Jakarta, Sunday.

According to Pramono, this plan is a form of collaboration that is equally profitable between two subsidiaries owned by Jakarta.

He said he had summoned JIS and Ancol managers to discuss this collaboration plan.

Thus, when there will be international activities such as the K-pop idol group concert Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS), BLACKPINK or Western singers such as Taylor Swift in Jakarta are no longer available depending on the place at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK).

BTS last held a concert in Indonesia, namely the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang in 2017. Meanwhile, BLACKPINK and Coldplay held a concert at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK), Jakarta in 2023.

"So far there is no place. Everything has to go to GBK. And for that I am sure I can definitely (JIS as the location of the concert). In Ancol, the parking location can reach more than 10 thousand," Pramono explained.

He emphasized that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will facilitate the implementation of international concerts or regular events instead of becoming an obstacle.

This was done to make Jakarta the top 20 in the world's global city by 2045.

"I said internally, Jakarta's task is to help, make it easier, not to become an obstacle for the event. There should no longer be obstacles, if for example there is a Coldplay show, BLACKPINK, BTS, including Taylor Swift," said Pramono.
