Bring Celurit When About To Brawl In Gambir, Dozens Of Students Arrested By Police

JAKARTA - A total of 12 junior high, high school and alumni students were arrested by members of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Samapta Precise Pioneer Patrol Team during a brawl on Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Gambir, Sunday, May 25, 2025, at dawn.

From their hands, the police confiscated 8 sickle blades which were suspected to be used for brawls.

The 12 people had the initials A (16), MD (17), RD (25), AR (15), RP (16), HZF (15), PD (18), LL (17), FR (22), AG (18), AD (23), and RZ (30).

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro said the arrests were made after the team saw a group of teenagers with suspicious movements.

"As soon as our team detected potential brawls, security was immediately carried out. Two people were caught carrying weapons and admitted that they would use them for brawls," he said when confirmed, Sunday, May 25.

Then all the perpetrators were taken to the Central Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters for further investigation.

The police will carry out legal proceedings against adult perpetrators, while underage perpetrators will receive guidance involving parents and related agencies.

"We will not tolerate acts of violence. This is not just juvenile delinquency, but dangerous criminal acts," he said.

Central Jakarta Metro Police will increase patrols and operations to create conditions throughout the jurisdiction to reduce potential security disturbances, especially at night.

"We urge parents to really supervise their children. Don't let them go out at night without a clear purpose. There is no benefit for children to be on the streets in the early hours of the morning, let alone carry sharp weapons. This could lead to a crime," he appealed.

The police chief also emphasized the importance of the role of the family in shaping the future of children.

"Give children positive activities, direct them to things that build the future. Do not let children get involved in acts of violence that can damage their lives," he said.

The perpetrators were charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951, related to possession of sharp weapons without a permit with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
