Wamenkomdigi Urges Meta To Close Deviantly Contented Facebook Groups
JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Wamenkomdigi), Angga Raka Prabowo, responded to the emergence of Facebook groups containing deviant content such as blood and grief Fantasy which has recently caused public unrest and anger.
Angga asked the Meta electronic system (PSE) organizers to actively monitor and close groups on its platform that are proven to contain deviant content, including pornography and sexual violence. He also asked Meta to actively coordinate with law enforcement officials in order to uncover the mastermind behind these negative content.
Wamenkomdigi Angga said that although there were several similar groups that were successful by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemenkomdigi), identification and had been blocked directly, this step was not enough.
"I have asked Meta to continue updating data and monitoring closely on the potential emergence of similar groups on their platforms," Angga told the media crew in Jakarta, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, May 23.
According to Angga, the existence of groups with deviant sexual fantasy content targeting children is a serious violation of legal and social norms. He assessed that group makers and content spreaders should be subject to severe legal sanctions.
