100 Experts Involved In Indonesian History Rewriting
JAKARATA - Deputy Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha Djumaryo said the government involved as many as 100 history experts in Indonesia's historical rewriting program.
"Now we are preparing more than 100 history experts. We are all committed to being completely inclusive. We are just waiting," said Giring on the sidelines of the Cultural Color event in Fort Rotterdam, Makassar City, South Sulawesi, Thursday, May 22.
The government's plan to rewrite Indonesia's history had drawn pros and cons. Some even asked for the program to be stopped.
Responding to this, Giring Ganesha said that Indonesia's rewriting of history was part of the Ministry of Culture's program.
The Ministry of Culture, he said, would provide space to listen to all input from all parties regarding the rewriting of national history.
"We'll just have to wait and see, and later it will be opened to listen to all the input," he said.

Previously, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon stated that the rewriting of national history was being worked on and planned to be released on August 17, 2025, to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Indonesia's independence.
"It's still a process. The one who writes is the historians. The target this year is to launch," said Fadli.
The move to destroy Indonesia's national history is referred to as a great effort by the government to present a more complete and inclusive historical narrative, as well as reach various figures and events that have been marginalized.
