Kim Jong Un Condemns The Accident Of The Launch Of The North Korean Destroyer
JAKARTA North Korean leader KimJong Un strongly criticized relevant officials for the "serious accident" that occurred during the launch ceremony of the new destroyer on Wednesday (21/5).
Kim called the incident an "untolerated criminal act".
According to a report by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Thursday (22/5), in an incident that occurred at the Congjin Shipyard, the destroyer weighing 5,000 tons lost balance while aboard a flat carriage, destroyed the bottom of the ship and blocked its launch from the launch line.
As reported by ANTARA from Kyodo-OANA, Kim called the accident a result of "absolute negligence, irresponsible attitude, and an unscientific empirical approach, which he said "has brought down the dignity and self-esteem of the state in an instant".
The North Korean leader warned that serious mistakes made by relevant officials would be discussed at a plenary meeting of the Korean Labor Party at the end of June, and he ordered that the ship be repaired immediately before the meeting, as well as conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
Kim emphasized that the repair of this ship was not only a technical issue, but also a political issue directly related to the state authorities.
According to the South Korean military, the destroyer is still partially tilted.
Earlier, at the end of April, Kim attended another new destroyer launch ceremony which also weighed 5,000 tonnes at a shipyard in the western port city of Nampho, and called the launch a "bove in North Korea's naval modernization".
