Fahmi's best known work is to be one of the initiators of the program to transfer from kerosene to LPG. His policy spurs developments in the industry related to LPG, from stoves to hoses.

"By taking into account the readiness of the domestic industry and taking into account the development of investment and labor that is absorbed, please provide 3 kg LPG gas cylinders for the program to transfer the use of kerosene to LPG, which is really distributed only by domestic production," said Fahmi as quoted on the second.com page, March 17, 2007.

Fahmi's career as minister did end in 2009. However, this condition did not make him completely withdraw from politics. He continued his political footprint by becoming the Advisory Council of the Golkar Party. This position made him continue to think about Indonesia's future.
