Ormas Persons In South Jakarta Stab Workers Because Of Payment Of Catering Money Delayed

JAKARTA A member of a community organization (ormas) with the initials AYS (30) was arrested by the police for allegedly extorting and stabbing the shophouse project workers on Jalan Abuserin, Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

The arrest of the perpetrators was carried out by the Cilandak Police in the context of an operation to eradicate thuggery in the South Jakarta area.

"For the first case, it is related to thuggery operations," said Cilandak Police Chief, Kompol Febriman Sarlase, to reporters, Wednesday (21/5).

According to the Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Murohih, the perpetrator AYS is known as a food catering distributor for the mess where the project workers work. The problem began when the perpetrator demanded a catering payment of Rp. 3 million which had not been paid by one of the workers.

"The problem is about catering payments. Because they were not paid, the suspect threatened and then stabbed them," explained Kompol Murohi.

Not only committing violence, the perpetrators also confiscated about 10 units of cellphones belonging to the workers under the pretext of guaranteeing arrears in payments.

"The suspect collected the belongings of the workers as collateral. Approximately 10 cellphones were secured," he added.

After the incident, the victim and several other workers immediately reported to the Cilandak Police. The police immediately moved quickly to conduct an investigation and managed to arrest AYS just hours after the incident at his residence not far from the project site.

Currently, the perpetrator has been named a suspect and detained at the Cilandak Police Rutan. He was charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code concerning extortion, with a maximum penalty of nine years in prison.
