Remember Suhardiman: SOKSI Strengthens Commitment To Work Ideology Amid The Dynamics Of The Times

BOGOR In a solemn atmosphere in the rest area of Evergreen, Cisarua, Bogor, hundreds of Central cadres of the Indonesian Self-Employment Organization (SOKSI) from all over the country gathered for one noble purpose: remembering and reflecting on the legacy of Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Prof. Dr. Suhardiman, founder of SOKSI as well as one of the architects of Indonesia's work ideology.

The pilgrimage to Suhardiman's grave which was held on Tuesday (20/5) is part of a series of commemorations of the 65th Anniversary of SOKSI, the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) I, and the XII National Conference (Munas) in 2025. However, more than just a ceremony, this activity is an in-depth reminder of the importance of the values of struggle and morality in political and national life.

The chairman of the West Java SOKSI Depidar, Yod Mintaraga, underlined the importance of this moment as a reflection together. He said that pilgrimage was not just a ritual, but a concrete form of respect for the inheritance of value left by Suhardiman.

"The spirit of work that he instills is timeless. In the midst of political dynamics today, SOKSI cadres must be the guardians of the values and ethics of the nation's struggle," he said. Yod also expressed his appreciation for the presence of the deceased's family, which shows the continuity between family values and the national movement.

Meanwhile, Ali Ghifar, Chief Executive of the National Rapimnas and the 2025 SOKSI National Conference, brought a more personal narrative in his remarks. He remembers the figure of Suhardiman not only as the founder of the organization, but also as a person who formed the direction of his next generation of thinking.

"I have known him since childhood. His thoughts about the trident of politics' power, law and democracy are still very relevant today. In a national atmosphere full of challenges, we need a leader with a vision as strong as him," said Ali.

Ali emphasized that Suhardiman had laid a solid foundation for SOKSI, not only as a political organization, but as the center of the regeneration of the nation's leaders.

Heritage to the Future

Suhardiman founded SOKSI in the 1960s, not merely as a counter to communism ideology, but as a major movement in building national leadership based on real work and service. He not only formed an organization, but created a new political culture rooted in the ideology of work an approach that prioritizes work ethic, service, and benefit for the people.

Although he is not always at the forefront of power, Suhardiman's thoughts remain a strategic reference in national politics. Even ahead of the 2014 presidential election, leaders such as Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla are said to have had direct discussions with him, showing how deep his thoughts are.

At the end of the pilgrimage, the participants agreed that Suhardiman's ideological heritage must continue to be maintained and used as a guideline in every SOKSI political step. In a contemplative atmosphere, the cadres reaffirm their commitment to making SOKSI a moral and intellectual force in the midst of times.

"Reforming Volume Two" And Today's Challenges

One of Suhardiman's thoughts that came back was his idea of the need for Reforming Volume Two. He saw that the 1998 reform was not enough to fix the nation's structure and direction as a whole. This view is considered more relevant in the current context, when the community demands integrity and effectiveness more in governance.

Through this pilgrimage moment, SOKSI emphasized that they not only remember, but also continued. For young cadres, Suhardiman is not just history, it is direction.
