Malaysia Masters 2025: Apri/Febi Passing The First Round

JAKARTA Women's doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Febi Setianingrum managed to beat the fourth seed to pass through the first round of the 2025 Malaysia Masters.

They qualified for the second round of the tournament after struggling in three games 11-21, 21-17, and 21-19 to repatriate Chinese representatives, Li Yi Jing/Luo Xu Min, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

"Today was quite tense, but we succeeded. We didn't think too much about winning and losing, we focused on one point at a time," said Apri after the match.

Apri/Febi are a couple that has just been united by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI). This is their third tournament since it was paired.

Their two tournaments before here were the China Taipei Open and Thailand Open 2025. Their furthest journey so far as a couple is the second half earned in China Taipei.

"We believe in a partner. We know we have just paired up. So, we (still) are looking for a game gap where we can enter. What to do in front, what to do behind," said Apri.

Apri/Fadia are the first representatives of Indonesia as well as the first women's doubles to reach the second round of this BWF Super 500 level event.

Before them, the pair Meilysa Trias Puspitasari/Rachel Alllessya Rose had already been eliminated. They were beaten by China's first seed, Liu Sheng Shu/Tan Ning.

Indonesia has sent a total of 11 representatives to Malaysia Masters 2025. Men's doubles is also the only sector that does not have representatives.
