Valencia Threatens Legal Action Against Claims Of Documentary Film Racism Vini Jr
JAKARTA - Valencia has requested immediate improvement from the producer of Vinicius J waynior's Netflix documentary.
El Che said the picture of racist abuse experienced by Real Madrid striker at Mestalla did not match reality.
The documentary film - which was released worldwide last week - was produced by Brazilian production company Conspiracao and tells the story of the player's life and career with a focus on the final seasons.
In one main scene, the film tells the story of the events on May 21, 2023, when Vinicius faced a group of Valencia supporters who had racial abuse against him during Madrid's 0-1 defeat at Mestalla, which caused the match to be temporarily suspended.
A year later, three supporters were sentenced to prison and prohibited from entering the stadium for the incident.
However, Valencia rejected the notion that harassment was widespread inside the stadium.

In the documentary, crowd footage is used - recorded on cell phones - and given a sub-edule showing supporters shouting "mono" in Spanish or "monyet", to Vinicius.
Clubs and supporters claim that the majority actually chant "tonto", or "stupid".
"Given the injustice and lies committed against Valencia CF supporters, the club has writtenly demanded an immediate improvement from the documentary production company regarding the incident at Mestalla, which is not in accordance with reality."
"The truth and respect for our supporters must be prioritized. Valencia CF has the right to take legal action," Valencia said in an official statement on Monday, May 19, 2025, local time.
Valencia previously threatened legal action against Vinicius' teammate at Real Madrid and Brazil, Rodrygo, after he said in 2023 that the entire stadium had racial abuse against Vinicius.
The incident at Mestalla sparked worldwide outrage and sparked a wave of support for Vinicius as well as calls to tackle the issue of racism in Spanish football better.
Vinicius was named FIFA Player of the Year 2024 and was runner-up at the Men's Ballon d'Or in the same year.
