JAKARTA - The Head of the Lanny Jaya Resort Police (Kapolres) Kompol Nursalam Saka said that the police officer Bripda LO, who sold ammunition to the armed criminal group (KKB) Papua, came from Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) Province.

Saka confirmed that Bripda LO came from Southeast Sulawesi. However, he admitted that he did not know the specifics of his district/city.

"Yes, that's right, Bripda LO (from Southeast Sulawesi). He uses La Ode anyway, uses the La Ode title, I can't be sure it's Muna, Buton," Saka said when contacted, Tuesday, May 20, during a statement.

He said that currently the case for handling Bripda LO has been handled by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Dit Reskrimum) of the Papua Regional Police (Polda).

"The person concerned with his parents is already at the Regional Police, it has been handled at the Regional Police, in Reskrimum," he said.

Saka also revealed that Bribda LO served as his subordinate at the Lanny Jaya Police Station for approximately 5 months, after completing his non-commissioned education.

"Between the newly graduated teenagers," said Saka.

It is known that the Cartenz Damai Operations Law Enforcement Task Force 2025 revealed a case of selling illegal ammunition to an armed criminal group involving an individual member of the National Police with the initials Bripda LO who served in Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua Mountains Province.

Head of the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force 2025 Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani said Bripda LO was secured after being proven to have sold dozens of rounds of ammunition to civilians with the initials PW who were known to be affiliated with the Lenggenus armed criminal group (KKB) network led by Komari Murib.

"This is a form of our commitment to take firm action against anyone involved in the supply of weapons and ammunition to the KKB, including if the perpetrators are members of the National Police themselves. There is no room for traitor to the institution," he said.

According to him, Bripda LO surrendered to the Papuan Regional Police on Saturday, May 17, after realizing that his unlawful actions had been revealed.

"Based on his confession, he has been selling this ammunition since 2017 and it had continued in 2021 before finally being carried out again this year," he said.

Faizal explained that the civilian with the initials PW who was involved is now being secured at the Jayawijaya Police for further investigation, while Bripda LO is being held at the Papua Police Headquarters.

"The two perpetrators were charged with Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 concerning Ownership of Weapons and Ammunition without a valid permit," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, appealed to the entire community not to be involved or assist the KKB network in any form, including the provision of weapons and ammunition logistics.

"Giving, selling, or intermediary ammunition to armed groups not only violates the law, but also threatens the safety of civilians in Papua," he said.

Yusuf also asked the public to immediately report if they know of suspicious activities related to the circulation of firearms and illegal ammunition.

He said the firm action against the circulation of illegal ammunition was a tangible manifestation of the Police's commitment, especially the Cartenz Damai Ops Task Force, in cleaning up illegal weapons and ammunition distribution networks in Papua.

"The National Police through the Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force will continue to strengthen internal supervision and accelerate prosecution of anyone involved, in order to create a security and security situation that is safe, conducive, and free from armed threats," he said.
