P3MI In Bekasi Not Eligible To Accommodate CPMI, Minister Karding Rises Rally: We Take Care Of Humans, Not Animals
JAKARTA - Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding reminded companies that placement of Indonesian migrant workers (P3MI) ensure that the facilities they provide are feasible for prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) they accommodate.
This was conveyed by Minister Karding after inspecting the sealed PT Esdema building, Tuesday, May 20. PT Esdema is known to use a former elementary school building in Jatiasih, Bekasi, for a CPMI shelter facility.
When inspecting the building, Minister Karding found that a number of parts of the building had not yet been renovated and the school wall was left in the former classroom whose function was changed to a mess for CPMI.
"Perlaku-perlaku seperti ini yang terjadi di semua perusahaan (penempatan PMI) akan kami perbaikan, kami perbaikan, karena tidak boleh ada fasilitas yang tidak manusia tapi justru diberikan kepada para PMI, katanya, disitat Antara.
According to him, Indonesian migrant workers are people who fight and struggle to prosper themselves and their families. Therefore, they must be respected, among others, by providing proper shelter facilities.
"CPMIs should not be placed in facilities that are still in the renovation process and are not ready to be inhabited," said the Minister of P2MI.
"If it is still renovated but still used as a PMI shelter, I think this is very inappropriate. We take care of humans who are struggling to find work and maintain their families' lives, if they are taken care of like animals, that's not true," he said.
"It's not like this, we don't deserve it, we take care of humans, not take care of these animals," continued Minister Karding.

The Minister also asked his staff to be aware of P3MI who is trying to avoid supervision by changing offices and activity locations and replacing company administrators, as happened at PT Esdema.
PT Esdema is known to have violated Article 9 paragraph (1) letter r and t of Ministerial Regulation P2MI No. 4 of 2025 after failing to dispatch 1,522 PMIs who have signed placement contracts and do not fulfill the obligations of the 16 PMIs they distributed.
KP2MI also decided to impose administrative sanctions in the form of temporary suspension of part or all activities of PT Esdema based on the Decree of the Director General of Protection of KP2MI Number 11 of 2025.
