Summoned Regarding The Corruption Case Of PT PGN's Gas Sale And Purchase, KPPU Chair Asks To Be Rescheduled

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) M. Fanshurullah Asa did not comply with the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday, May 19. He should have been examined as a witness to the alleged corruption in the sale and purchase of PT PGN gas with PT Inti Alasindo Energi (IAE).

"Today the person concerned was not present and asked for a reschedule," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, quoted on Tuesday, May 20.

Budi has not yet detailed when the rescheduling of Fanshurullah will be carried out. He only said that investigators would definitely call back because his statement was needed to investigate allegations of corruption in the sale and purchase of gas which ultimately harmed the state.

"Of course investigators will explore the information needed from witnesses related to the case being examined," he said.

Meanwhile, Fanshurullah Asa ensured that he was ready to provide information in front of KPK investigators. In principle, he will help investigate the ongoing corruption allegations.

"I appreciate the KPK in following up on the notification letter of the multilevel gas trading practice that I once sent to the Director General of Oil and Gas of Oil and Gas in line with the findings of BPH Migas on the results of monitoring IAE's business activities at the end of 2020, one of the important documents in the case," he said in a written statement to reporters.

"For that I will be open and convey all the information and documents needed by the KPK in its investigation. However, the handling of corruption is in line with the task of supervising the business competition that I am currently running," continued Fansurrullah.

Previously reported, the KPK detained two suspects in the corruption case of selling gas between PT PGN and PT Inti Alasindo Energi (IAE) on Friday, April 11. They are Danny Praditya as former Commercial Director of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) and Iswan Ibrahim as former Commissioner of PT IAE.

In this case, the KPK has examined 75 people and experts from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). Danny and Iswan are suspected of having harmed state finances of 15 million US dollars due to buying and selling gas that is not in accordance with the rules.
