3,159 Sacrificial Animals In Jakarta Confirmed Free Of FMD And Antraks
JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta has confirmed that as many as 3,159 sacrificial animals have been examined in 14 sales locations in five city areas until mid-May 2025 are free from BETraks and Mouth and Nail Diseases (PMK).
"The examination will continue until Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri to ensure that all sacrificial animals traded are in good health and proper condition," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Service (KPKP), Hasudungan Sidabalok, Tuesday, May 20.
Of this number, the animals examined consisted of 2,492 cows and 667 goats or sheep.
Hasudungan said that the examination included three main aspects, namely:
The feasibility of the location of the sale, which must comply with the city government's permission and not be in public spaces such as sidewalks, parks, or other public facilities.
"Do not let the sale of sacrificial animals on sidewalks or parks disturb public order," he said.
Completeness of animal health documents, including proof of vaccination against anti-extraction, PMK, and Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). Also the physical condition of the animal, includes complete body organs, horn and leg health, as well as ensuring that the animal is not disabled or sick.
In addition, animal life is also an important requirement. Goats at least two years old and cows must be more than two and a half years old in order to fulfill the sacrificial law.
Hasudungan emphasized that so far there have been no cases of dangerous diseases. However, some animals were detected experiencing mild complaints such as eye inflammation, abrasions, limps due to transportation, and fatigue after a long trip.
