Director General Of Immigration Reveals Difficulty Detection Of Indonesian Citizens Working Online Gambling In Cambodia
The Directorate General (Dirjen) of Immigration revealed that it has not been able to detect Indonesian citizens (WNI) who will work in the field of online gambling or judol to Cambodian State.
Acting Directorate General (Dirjen) of Immigration of the Ministry of Immigration and Prisons, Brigadier General Yuldi Yusman said that the Government of Indonesia also cannot prohibit people from working in Cambodia or abroad.
"Because the lure of working abroad, especially in Cambodia, salaries (paids) are also quite large, compared to Indonesia," said Yuldi, after a meeting with delegates from Cambodia in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Monday, May 19.
He said that when Indonesian citizens left for Cambodia, they did not go directly from Indonesia to Cambodia because there was no direct flight. They have to go through Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia.
"When he left for Cambodia, we didn't have direct flights directly to Cambodia. So those who left to work in Cambodia were in Thailand first, they went to the Philippines first to Malaysia," he said.
"So we can't detect this. Where does he actually want to go, it turns out that they end up going to Cambodia. And in Cambodia they actually work in places where we think it is illegal. For example, in places where the operator is jud online," he explained.

Because of this, his party has not been able to detect the beginning whether Indonesians departing for Cambodia will work illegally and some will use land routes from Thailand to Cambodia.
"With what they did, we couldn't detect it early. Because, we didn't know it turned out that they were going there. Because their plane ticket was intended for Thailand, other countries in the Philippines, it turned out that they entered there by road. Like from Thailand to Cambodia, it was by land," he said.
He also said that his party had rejected 80 Indonesians who were leaving for Cambodia.
"There is no confirmation from there (Cambodia). But we have rejected 80 who were rejected during 2025," he said.
