Two Generations Of Tangkas Adu In The Old Padel Tournament In Jakarta

JAKARTA - The Old Force (AL) Padel community held a Pedel tournament on the Smash Padel field, Jakarta. The padel sports event was attended by participants from across generations.

This tournament is not only a unique competition that brings together two generations in one team, but also a real stage for senior players to appear in competitive and equal official tournaments.

The main rule of this tournament is that each couple must have a minimum age of 85 years. This tournament presents interesting dynamics involving a combination of young and senior players.

"We have initiated this tournament to create an inclusive playing space, where mothers and children, or friends across ages can compete healthy together," said Dola Mazir, West Sumatra Representative for the Padel Sports at PON XXI 2024 as well as Founder of AL Padel in a statement received, Monday, May 19.

In addition, this tournament is more than just a collaboration. This format specifically provides a fair playing space for senior players, something that has been barely available in the structure of the padel tournament in Indonesia, where the majority of competitions do not differentiate age groups.

"We want to provide a real tournament experience for senior players who have probably only played in community tournaments or small-scale," he said.

Just so you know, padel is a social sport. Through this Old Force tournament, it proves that this sport can be enjoyed by anyone, without age.

"No less important, we also want to present a fair competition space for senior players, because so far there has been no age group in the padel tournament," he said.

Meanwhile, one of the couples who stole the attention was the Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Destry Damayanti, who appeared enthusiastic with his daughter, Arin.

"I really appreciate this event, with this old theme, which connects two generations in this match, I can partner with my son in this tournament and also this padel sport can unite various generations. Apart from that, we can network with various groups," said Destry.

Participation of public figures such as Lulu Tobing and Restu Sinaga also adds color and positive spirit throughout the tournament. For many senior players, this participation is not just a symbol of participation. But also a form of courage and determination to show that age is not a barrier to compete sportyly.

Seeing the high enthusiasm and positive impact felt by participants, AL Padel plans to make the Old Force Tournament a routine agenda to strengthen the inclusive and competitive padel ecosystem in Indonesia.
