Ahead Of The 205 Grand Action, The Minister Of Transportation Meets Grab, GoTo, Maxim, And InDrive To Discuss Tariff Cut Complaints
Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi summoned a number of online motorcycle taxi applicators (ojol) in the midst of public attention regarding alleged violations of the maximum tariff cut limit for drivers.
The meeting was attended by representatives from a number of digital transportation companies such as Grab, Maxim, GoTo, and inDrive.
"This is the presence of business actors from the digital transportation business in the hope that on today's occasion we can discuss some of the issues that are developing in the community," said the Minister of Transportation on the sidelines of a meeting held in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, May 19.
The Minister of Transportation said the Ministry of Transportation encouraged all parties, both applicators, drivers, and the public to sit together to discuss actual issues openly and constructively.
According to him, solving problems in the online transportation ecosystem cannot be done unilaterally.
"Of course it will be very wise if we can listen to what is the problem with this online business," he said.
He also emphasized that the formulation of solutions must involve cross-ministerial and related government agencies.
The meeting was held the day before plans for a massive demonstration that would be held by some 500,000 online motorcycle taxi drivers on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
The action, dubbed "Aksi Akbar 205", will be carried out simultaneously in various major cities in Indonesia. Drivers will take to the streets or kill the application en masse as a form of protest against alleged violations of regulations by applicators.
Chairman of the Indonesian Guard, Raden Igun Wicaksono, said that the drivers felt aggrieved by the cut in rates imposed by the applikator. According to him, app pieces often exceed 20 percent, even reaching 50 percent.
"We apologize to the residents of Jakarta and its surroundings because on May 20, Jakarta will be invaded by thousands of two-wheeled and four-wheeled drivers to express their aspirations," said Igun.
This action will be centered at several points, such as the State Palace, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Indonesian Parliament Building. Similar actions will also be held in a number of cities such as Medan, Bandung, Surabaya, Makassar, to Ambon.
