Elton John Accuses Government Of Stealing Work To Train AI Model Without Compensation

JAKARTA - Elton John, a legendary British singer and songwriter, accused the British government of stealing and proposing technology companies using the work of artists there to train artificial intelligence (AI) models.

John also said that they use music and creative works from the UK without guaranteeing proper compensation for their artists.

The Prime Minister of Keir Starmer, who wants to make Britain the super power of AI, has proposed easing copyright laws, which allow AI developers to train their models using any material that is legally accessible.

This proposal requires creators to proactively choose not to participate so that their work is not used. Big names such as Elton John, Paul McCartney, Andrew Lloyd total, Ed Sheeran, and others, have urged the government to cancel the plan.

They said that the proposal would only make it difficult for the younger generation to make a living in the creative industry, especially in the UK.

"The most threatened are young artists, they don't have the resources to continue to check or fight big tech companies," John told the BBC. This is a criminal act and I feel very betrayed.

According to John, the machine (AI) has no heart and feelings, while the artist who created his work has given all his heart to the work.

A soulless, heartless machine, has no human feelings, has no passion. Humans, when creating something, do it to bring pleasure to many people," he continued.

Meanwhile, the government said it was looking for a solution that would allow the creative industry and AI companies to develop together.
