KKB Returns To Action In Central Papua, 2 Brimob Members Shot Dead

JAYAPURA Two Brimob members who were members of the Cartenz Peace Task Force were shot dead by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Kampung Expel, Mulia District, Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua, Thursday afternoon, May 15, 2025.

Head of the Cartenz Peaceful Public Relations Task Force, Kombes Pol Yusuf Sutejo, revealed that the shooter allegedly came from the KKB group led by Ternus Enumbi.

"Two victims are Bripda Dedi Tambunan and Bharada Raymon Rerey," Yusuf said, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, May 16.

The shooting occurred when the two victims were riding a motorbike around Kampung Expel. Local residents reported gunshots allegedly coming from gunfire between Brimob members and the KKB group.

"The two victims were declared dead shortly after arriving at Mulia Hospital," explained Yusuf.

He added that the shooter was suspected of using a motorbike belonging to the younger brother of a KKB member named Bumi Wolo Enumbi. Bumi Wolo was previously killed in an action carried out by TNI soldiers in Kalome Village, Ilambowari, Puncak Jaya Regency, on Saturday, May 10.

Currently, the joint apparatus is still investigating and pursuing the perpetrators around the scene.

Kombes Yusuf appealed to the public to remain calm and not be provoked by the KKB violence. He also asked residents to support law enforcement efforts carried out by the security forces.
